Born in Berryville, Arkansas, Kirby spent his early childhood in Lima, Peru, as the son of missionaries. There, he learned to speak Spanish and was immersed in the culture on a daily basis. When he was 5 years old, Kirby returned to the United States with his family. He then lived in Southwest Arizona for 3 years, where he and his family continued to primarily interact with the Spanish speaking community and culture. As a result of these experiences, Kirby gained a deep appreciation for the Hispanic community and the Spanish language from a very young age.
When Kirby’s parents divorced, he returned to rural Northwest Arkansas, where he grew up with his mother and three younger brothers. When Kirby was a senior in high school, he was asked to compete in his high school’s Mock Trial competition. While he had never considered becoming an attorney before then, Kirby quickly realized that the practice of law was perfectly suited to his interests. By the time he graduated in 2017, he was determined to pursue a career in law. After graduating, Kirby attended college at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, with minors in History and German. He then attended law school at the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law in Little Rock, graduating in December of 2024.
Shortly after he first decided to pursue a career as an attorney, Kirby felt that it was his calling to represent clients in domestic relations cases. His firsthand experience in coming from a broken home fueled his passion for family law, and that passion has only grown stronger in the years since.
Kirby’s first job was at a vet clinic, where he helped care for dogs and cats (and even a possum once) while they were being examined or treated for illnesses. As a lifelong animal lover, he thoroughly enjoyed his work, and if he hadn’t discovered his passion for law, he might have pursued a career in working with animals. During undergrad, Kirby worked in restaurants, moving his way up from busboy to cook. There, he worked alongside people from all walks of life, from college students to single parents to ex-convicts. This helped him learn to appreciate the fact that, at the core, all of us are equally human, and that the path a person’s life takes is tremendously impacted by their circumstances. This further reinforced his passion for the law, as he realized he could be a voice in the legal system for people in difficult and painful situations.
In law school, Kirby participated in the Bowen School of Law’s Family Law Clinic as a Rule XV certified law student, where he had the opportunity to represent his first ever client in a divorce case. He was able to negotiate a settlement agreement on behalf of his client, and found the experience to be just as rewarding as he had imagined it would be. While in law school, he also clerked for an estate planning firm in Maumelle, Arkansas, helping clients plan to ensure that their assets would be distributed according to their wishes after they passed. In this setting, he developed the awareness that estate planning is not just something for wealthy people; it is important for everyone to ensure that they have made arrangements for their affairs while they are still alive.
Kirby joined Albarran & Joyce in 2025, where he focuses his practice primarily on family law, but offers estate planning services as well. When he is not practicing law, Kirby spends his time relaxing at home with his seventeen-year-old dog, Bandit (his companion since sixth grade). He also spends time engaging in personal hobbies, such as playing the trumpet and guitar, or cooking. Kirby enjoys learning languages, currently speaking conversational Spanish and German, along with some Portuguese. As a result, he often spends his free time immersing himself in these and other languages he desires to learn. Kirby also loves the outdoors, and enjoys hiking, camping, and fishing in the Ozarks and beyond.
