Seane Fry (or “Rooster” to his friends) was born and raised in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Shortly after high school, Seane joined the Army, where he served for 21 years as an armor crewman and military intelligence collector. He retired in 2011 as a First Sergeant, and his awards include two Bronze Stars and three Meritorious Service Medals.
Upon retirement from active duty, Seane moved to Fort Smith to reconnect with his remaining family, including his brother Shea and Shea’s six children and began teaching at Northside High School’s JROTC program. While at Northside, Seane coached Northside’s state-champion rifle team and helped Fort Smith’s JROTC become the most extensive program in the Fifth Brigade, an organization covering eight states.
In 2017, Seane left his position at Northside to pursue a career in law. He attended the University of Arkansas’ Fayetteville Leflar School of Law, graduating with Latin honors in 2020. During law school, Seane focused his studies on criminal and immigration law. Upon graduation, Seane joined a Springdale, Arkansas law firm working on removal defense and other immigration issues. In 2021, Seane moved to the Sebastian County Office of the Public Defender. Seane worked as a Deputy Public Defender for four years, representing hundreds of clients incapable of affording private counsel. Seane has tried dozens of cases, felonies and misdemeanors, and has handled cases ranging from simple marijuana possession to First Degree Murder.
While serving as a Public Defender, Seane began the Fort Smith chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to building and delivering hand-made, fully furnished beds to children in need.
Recently, Seane has spoken to groups in the River Valley area addressing immigrant rights and how to react to encounters with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He is also working with local citizens to start a River Valley chapter of the Alliance for Immigrant Respect and Education (AIRE).
Seane enjoys spending his spare time with his gorgeous wife of almost twenty-five years, Tress, catching catfish and fishing local hot spots where Crappie were ostensibly located before he arrived. Seane has, to date, never actually seen a Crappie but hopes to do so one day.
